The Department of Social Sciences at the Augustana Campus of the University of Alberta invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the field of Psychology and Mental Health, commencing on July 01, 2022. The successful applicant will have a PhD in psychology or a related field. A research focus in Brain and Behaviour, Cognition, and/or Neuropsychology will be considered an asset.
The Psychology and Mental Health program at Augustana trains undergraduates as researchers and critical thinkers in preparation for the many roles they adopt in future careers. The program emphasizes methodology, both qualitative and quantitative. These program strengths combine well with Augustana’s Core, which focuses on problem-based learning. We seek an emerging scholar with demonstrable potential of teaching excellence in the context of a liberal arts program. The Psychology and Mental Health program has a Brain and Behaviour stream that includes foundational courses in brain and behaviour, cognition, learning and quantitative analysis. The successful candidate will be involved in shaping this stream, including the development of senior courses in their area of expertise.
Interviewees will demonstrate the potential for a strong and sustainable research program involving undergraduate researchers in the areas of Brain and Behaviour, Cognition, and/or Neuropsychology. Augustana has a small animal lab, though it does not have a wet lab. We welcome interdisciplinary researchers with the potential to collaborate with other faculty members at Augustana and across the University as a whole.
