   Jul 28-Aug 01, 2004 APA Convention Hawai'i: STP Activities (#1)  1

The 2004 APA Convention returned to Hawai'i after 32 years and held most of its meetings at the new Hawaiian Convention Center (HCC). STP's activities took place at the HCC and the Hilton Hawaiian Village at nearby Waikiki Beach. The photos here were taken by me (VH) and represent a sample of activities related to STP and the convention. I did not get to as many sessions as I would have wanted to. However, you can get a flavor of the convention (which most people with whom I talked thought was terrific) from these images and those on the subsequent pages.

Poster [APA 112th Convention]   [Poster Session #1] [Poster Session #1]
My very first view of O'ahu from a United Airlines plane.
Various scenes from Poster Session #1 on Thu, 29 July
[Dr. Theresa Brown] [Young Mr. Brown]   [Bill Hill et al.] [Mary Kite et al.]
DrDr. Theresa Brown (Georgian Court University) reported on the "Introductory Course for Psychology Majors and Minors." She also brought the family (as did about 2700 attendees to the convention). Her little one took advantage of the lull.
Bill Hill seems to be making a sweetly reasonable argument (as usual).   Mary Kite (incoming STP President Elect) seems just a little startled by the photographer.
[Diane Halpern] [Albert Bandura]  Dr. Pearsall  [Kamehameha Chorus]
APA President Diane Halpern at the "Opening Ceremony" on Day 2 of the convention.  Dr. Albert Bandura (Stanford University) receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award from APA Dr. Paul Pearsall conducted a 'aha mele (lecture concert) which included both traditional and modern hula. The incredible chorus from the Kamehameha School closed the ceremony with gusto. They sang their "Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride" from the Disney movie Lilo and Stitch.
