STP Early Career Psychologist (ECP) Council

STP is excited to announce the addition of a new council for Early Career Psychologists (ECPs). The Council is charged with spearheading activities and opportunities to aid Early Career Professionals through education, training and networking, as well as representing ECP interests in division matters. Our goal is to help serve the needs of new faculty members as they develop their courses and research programs. Specifically we want to assist ECPs with faculty development issues while focusing on the importance of pedagogy.

We now have an STP listserv specifically designed to announce information relevant to ECPs! The primary purpose of the listserv will be to announce upcoming conferences, awards, travel funding, and other opportunities for ECPs, but discussion of ECP-related topics is also encouraged. If you’d like to subscribe, please e-mail stp-ecp@teachpsych.org.  Please note that you can unsubscribe at any time.

The ECP Council is also excited to announce the first annual ECP poster award for the best SoTL project, emphasizing impact and quality of work, at the 2012 APA Convention.

Eligible posters must meet the following criteria:

  1. The first author must be an ECP, within seven (7) years post-doctorate or within seven (7) years of beginning full-time college teaching, whichever comes first.
  2. Individual posters can only be submitted for one STP award
  3. It is recommended that the first author is an STP member
  4. Applicants should submit a draft of the poster and 500-1000 word summary to stp-ecp@teachpsych.org. The deadline is one month prior to convention, July 1, 2012.

Winner(s) will be notified before the conference and invited to receive the award at the ECP social hour in the STP hospitality suite. The winner’s poster and a 50-word abstract will be published on the STP-ECP website. The winner will also receive $250 honorarium.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please e-mail us at stp-ecp@teachpsych.org.
